Rolly Polly

At Charley's two month visit last week, his doctor admonished us for not giving him enough tummy time. We explained that he started to wail after about thiry seconds. She advised getting down and distracting him with toys and putting him facedown for supervised naps. The former raises the wailing point to two minutes. The latter works better because, upon awakening, it takes him a few minutes to figure out that he's someplace he doesn't want to be. He fell asleep in Emily's lap tonight and we put him on his belly on his monkey rug at our feet. He woke up about fifteen minutes later, and after about three minutes he started to get vocal. Then he did a push-up, turned his head, and suddenly we had a baby on his back!

Tristan just hated it too - a passerby would have thought we were waterboarding him. I resorted to telling him that it was only the first of many things Mommy would do for his own good that he'd hate me for...
